KAINE NAVARRO
I am a 16 year old from Glendora, California. I was hooked at two and a half years old when I caught my first bluegill. A few months later, my parents entered me in my first trout tournament when I was turning three and I placed fifth. I was so excited and wanted to compete as much as possible. I started fishing bass tournaments at eight years old with So Cal Junior Bass in San Diego. I am so lucky to have learned so much from my peers and boat captains. With multiple top twenty and top ten finishes my goal was to qualify for the State Championship. I met the goal and qualified to fish the California State Championship four times. I worked hard and was able to win the Bassmaster/BBZ California State Championship two years in a row. Biggest Bass wins! In 2020, I qualified with an 8.1lb bass and qualified with a bag of 36.2lbs in 2021. As a freshman, my fishing partner and I qualified to fish for the High School Championship in 2021. We placed 77th out of 398 teams. Not quite the finish we wanted but we learned a ton and are ready for this year’s championship.
As much as I love fishing, I love helping other people catch fish. I love showing kids that they can catch big fish too. I am excited to hand out baits and share my knowledge with others who want to learn about fishing. C.A.S.T for kids and Fish for Life are great organizations that I volunteer for when available. Both organizations take special needs kids out for a day of fishing and celebrating. I also volunteer to help kids learn how to fish with Dan’s Kids. Fishing is a changing puzzle that changes by the minute. I’m learning to solve that puzzle better every day out on the water. My DREAMs are big and ambitious but I’m ready for the challenge.
