DEGAN DOUGHERTY

Degan is 12 years old and has been fishing his whole life. He joined the Phoenix Junior Bassmasters in 2017 and has had a lot of success within the team. Being a resident of Peoria, Arizona he is not far from many of the lakes that surround the state. Degan works with his teammates when they are not fishing to teach other kids how to fish and collectively participate in many community service activities to help keep our lakes clean.

He works hard in school and has been able to secure honor roll during the toughest of times. He would like to continue his education in marine biology to better learn the habitats and fisheries that are so important to him.

In his spare time, Degan makes drop shot weights for The Hook Up Tackle shop located in his home town.

Features and Accomplishments:

•June 2016, 7^th annual Hatch Toyota Tundra Fishing Derby, Showlow, AZ. 1st Place. This was featured in The local newspaper, The Independent, where he was featured with the host Johnny Johnson.

•2017-2018, 3^rd Place Angler of The Year, Phoenix Junior Bassmasters

•2018-2019, 1^st Place Angler of The Year, Phoenix Junior Bassmasters, State Champion.

•June 2019 Skeeter Owners tournament Day 1 weigh in at 1:00pm, 9^th place check for weight of 2.34lb. $150 prize check, he was the youngest in BassChamps history to win a check.

This was also recorded on BassChamps TV and was played on The Sportsman Channel.

•February/March 2020 BASS Magazine feature with fellow club members for Volunteer Work with TBF and FLW.

•JML weekend bass warriors 5th place overall finish for the 2021 season fished with his dad. 

•Finished 32nd out of 415 boats at the TBF/SAF High School World Finals on Lake Pickwick June 2022
